January 24, 2018 with Victoria Redel, Hermione Hoby, Chandler Klang Smith, and Robert Heide & John Gilman
One never knows what one might hear during the Q&A...
Chandler Klang Smith
Chandler read from her debut novel, The Sky Is Yours. Her #literarycocktail was inspired by the two dragons that constantly circle the sky in her fantasy novel, scorching the earth at whim. It contained yellow chartreuse, vermouth, vodka, lemon and lime and was a crowd favorite.
Hermione Hoby
Hermione read from Neon in Daylight, her debut novel. She enjoyed the Hot Luster, with prosecco, blood orange juice, and St-Germain. It referenced the heat of the NYC summer setting of her novel, among other hot things found therein.
Victoria Redel
Victoria read from her most recent novel, Before Everything. The name of her #literarycocktail—The Taste of Time—refers to the characters’ shared histories, and how their time together shapes their lives.
Robert Heide & John Gilman
These gentleman enjoyed their custom cocktails, performed East of the Sun, one of Robert's plays, and regaled us with anecdotes during the Q&A. Robert enjoyed an Old sKCoole Mary (the Bloody Mary recipe he loves from the St. Regis Hotel's Old King Cole bar, and John's Shirley? Surely. Oh, boy! was a a Shirley Temple made with Bo's housemade grenadine and topped with a sparkly pink umbrella.
Open Mic
Lawrence Pruski read from his novella Interrealm, in which a tumbledown Spanish villa is a metaphor for the relationship between the narrator and his estranged lover.
